Devon Rock Cycle
Devon Rock Cycle is a way of enabling bands in Devon to work together to get more gigs and to help landlords promote live music in their pubs. The Devon Rock Cycle acts as an agency to promote live music in pubs in the county enabling all bands in the cycle to rotate round a number of different venues. Each band must negotiate an agreement for a rock cycle band to play at a venue, ideally once a week, although once a fortnight or once a month would still work. This is the only requirement for bands to join.
Advantages to bands: Once eight bands are in the cycle then there is an opportunity to play once a week rotating around the venues over two months. As more bands join the cycle more gigs per week become possible over a longer cycle.
Advantages to landlords: Landlords know that any bands in the cycle have played regularly elsewhere and are likely to go down better in their pub as compared to somebody untried. They do not have to negotitate with a large number of different people and can work with people they already know. The possibility exists for showcase gigs to be run for special events e.g. Comic Relief.
